Meet Our Doctors

Dr. Shivali Gohel

Dr. Shivali Gohel is a Board Certified periodontist who is passionate about helping her patients achieve optimal oral health. In doing so, she is able to improve their overall well-being, since periodontal disease is linked to heart disease and other serious health problems. Providing an attentive, personalized treatment approach, and always aware of each person’s unique concerns, Dr. Gohel caters to each patient's needs. Dr. Gohel’s interest in dentistry started when she was nine years old and she fractured her two front teeth. When her teeth were restored, she was amazed at the difference in her life. Dr. Gohel is committed to providing the best possible periodontal care. She is ethical, compassionate, understanding, and loves to help others.

I have lived in Pacific Beach for the past 32 years. I have enjoyed seeing my children grow up into young adults in this community.  When I am not in the office you can find me water skiing, snow skiing, sailing and camping.

Meet Our Staff

Office Manager

I handle our patient’s treatment plans and oversee all day-to-day operations.  My goal is to make sure our patients are taken care of, have a good understanding of why there are here and that their questions are answered.  I try to make their periodontal visit as pleasant as possible.  I have been a part of the office team here for over 22 years.  Dr. Sinks is an extremely skilled doctor who truly loves what he does and is wonderful to work with.  I also have the pleasure of working with Dr. Gohel.  She has an amazing chairside manner and you can see she really loves what she does!

When I’m not here in the office, my husband and I spend a lot of time outdoors and are starting to travel more now that our kids are all grown.

Patient and Insurance Coordinator

I am your insurance “go to” person. I help you schedule your appointments and answer your dental insurance questions. I’m the one who calls your insurance providers and makes sure that you are getting the most from your dental benefits. I am also involved with the day to day operations in the office. I answer phones and speak with patients. Being able to assist each patient with their concerns and scheduling needs is a big part of why I enjoy my job.

The staff here is terrific and they are all fun to work with. Dr. Sinks and Dr. Gohel are the best and always appreciate the hard work we do to make things work, making sure they always thank us at the end of each day.

In my personal time, I really enjoy spending time with my daughter; she is the love of my life! We try to take “mini” vacations whenever we can, although living in San Diego is like being on vacation all the time, isn’t it?

Patient Coordinator

“Hello!” I am the smiling face that will greet you at the front desk. You may already recognize my voice from the phone call I placed to confirm your appointment here. My job is to start your experience with our office in a positive and comfortable manner, making you feel at home and at ease. A highlight of my day is interacting with the patients, seeing the fantastic results of their procedures and hearing all the positive feedback from the patients.

We have a great office dynamic. We all support each other and get along very well, which I believe shows in the care that we give our patients. Dr. Sinks and Dr. Gohel are very dedicated to the team and their patients. Watching them work intrigues me and I love that they always take the time with patients, explaining procedures or treatment plans in great detail to be sure our patients understand what their treatment and outcome will be.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy running, going to the gym, traveling and most importantly, spending quality time with my family.

Surgical RDA

My first interaction with new patients is to make them feel comfortable and make sure they have all the information that is available to them. I assist Dr. Sinks and Dr. Gohel in surgical procedures focusing on the job to make sure we achieve a safe and successful outcome. Following up with post-op patients gives me a chance to see how they are recovering and if there is anything I can do to help them along the way.

We all care so much for each other and our patients that it really doesn’t feel like the typical office environment; we are all friends. Dr. Sinks and Dr. Gohel are very generous, making sure to thank everyone around them, both patients and staff and go out of their way to show their appreciation for the staff.

Outside of work I am a BIG sports fan… GO PADRES!! I enjoy hanging out with friends, family and spending time with my husband and our two cats.

Dental Assistant

I help assist Dr. Sinks and Dr. Gohel with surgical procedures. I work with both new patients and post-op patients to give them as much information as possible to help them be comfortable before and after surgery, allowing a speedy and successful recovery. I love interacting with the patients and seeing their results when they come back in for visits.

We have such a great staff! Our office environment is very peaceful and we are all willing to help each other out to make the day run smooth. Dr. Sinks is not only a great periodontist, but he is pretty funny to work with. Dr. Gohel is so sweet, just being around her is calming and she has a gift of putting patients at ease.

Something you may not know about me… I speak 2 languages: English and Spanish. My husband speaks French, so maybe I’ll add that to my list of languages to speak some day as well. We love traveling and spending time with our dog.

Registered Dental Hygienist

My career as a dental health professional began in 1989 in Flagstaff, AZ where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. As a native Californian, I chose to begin my career in San Diego in General Dentistry. After 10 years I realized my passion was in Periodontal Dentistry so I concentrated my practice in this area. It has been a pleasure working with Dr. Sinks for almost 15 years. I admire him greatly as he is a highly skilled periodontist. I am also thrilled to be working with Dr. Gohel as well. She has been such a positive light in our office, bringing not only incredible skills but an excitement about periodontics.

In 28 years of practice, I enjoy most of the relationships I share with my patients. My ultimate goal is to guide my patients with education. Together we will achieve your dental goals, no matter what they may be.

My philosophy: Let’s work together and not sweat the small stuff!

Providing excellent dental care, educating patients on their periodontal condition to achieve optimum oral health as well as listening to the concerns and individual needs of patients have been my professional philosophies for over 27 years.

It is an honor and privilege to work with Dr. Sinks and Dr. Gohel. Not only are they outstanding periodontists, their genuine concern and compassion toward our patients are truly commendable.
I'm an avid reader, indoor cycling enthusiast and Kundalini yoga practitioner.
My greatest joy is being with my husband and daughter.
